Pledged to Amend

“Corporations have no consciences, no beliefs, no feelings, no thoughts, no desires. Corporations help structure and facilitate the activities of human beings, to be sure, and their ‘personhood’ often serves as a useful legal fiction. But they are not themselves members of “We the People” by whom and for whom our Constitution was established.”
— ~Supreme Court Justice Stevens, January 2010

Pictured here with Move to Amend's Keyan Bliss at the 2017 Democracy Convention in Minneapolis, MN, where I was a featured presenter.

I'm honored to have signed Move to Amend's candidate "Pledge to Amend," a statement of my solidarity with the people and my active willingness to stand up in Congress to support a much-needed constitutional amendment to make it clear that corporations are not people, money is not speech, and campaign contributions must be regulated to ensure fair elections.

When elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, I will introduce, sponsor and support legislation to get money out of politics, affirming that Congress and the states have the right to regulate money in elections. Moreover, I will use my media access to champion this cause, bring it into the spotlight of popular consciousness, and win this legislative victory for the people!
